DIY Shiplap Frame

We would love to invite you to post YOUR thrifted makeover on Instagram by using the hashtag #thriftedandrelifted. We will be choosing one to feature on our blogs for the next month! I always come across old frames without glass at flea markets and garage sales but usually pass them up..but when I came across this gold hit me! Why not add shiplap to the back of it?!? I've seen others built small shiplap wall hanging so I wanted to see what it would look like behind a frame. This frame was literally .25 cents! You can usually find them at garage sales in boxes for just have to be willing to dig a little. ;)

Here is what the frame looked like before. I actually love the gold so I didn't mess with spray painting it a color but you definitely could.

I had my husband help with measuring and cutting the pieces of thin plywood I already had in the garage. I then painted the top and sides of them with two layers of white paint.

I took wood glue and simply glued the pieces to the inside of the frame where the glass would usually sit. I left tiny spaces to give the look of ship lap. I let the pieces set overnight to assure they are glued tightly.

I already had this mini boxwood wreath so I took some black and white twine from the Target dollar section and attached it to the wreath.  (Similar wreath linked below)

I love the way it turned out! I will switch out the wreath for seasons and cant wait to decorate with it for fall!

A .25 cent frame now has a whole new look and purpose! It makes me want to make more of these it was so easy. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out my friends posts below by clicking on the links!
